Insights into the Weihenstephan Campus during the Nazi Period

National Socialist ideology permeated all areas of life, including universities. During the Nazi era, Weihenstephan was already a center of scholarship within the then Technical University of Munich. For the Nazi regime, nutrition and agriculture were key areas, and university staff were expected to conform to the party line. To date, there is no comprehensive account of Weihenstephan during the Nazi period.
In his lecture on Wednesday, 8 July at 7:00 p.m., Dr. Guido Hoyer, historical advisor to the City of Freising, will shed light on the activities and key figures of the National Socialist German Students’ League, which played a decisive role in enforcing the Gleichschaltung (coordination) of the academic staff. He will also discuss perpetrators, opportunists, and those who were persecuted under the regime.
The event, organized by the City of Freising’s Treffpunkt Ehrenamt initiative, also serves as a preview of the “Long Night of Democracy” on 2 October 2026. It will take place at StudiTUM, Lecture Hall 4, Weihenstephaner Steig 16. Admission is free.
