TUM After-School Care Center Weihenstephan
Our daycare center is centrally located in a beautiful setting on Weihenstephaner Berg in Freising, on the campus of the Technical University of Munich and not far from Vötting Elementary School.
Our villa offers plenty of space for learning and leisure activities on three floors, and the large garden invites the children to get some fresh air and exercise every day.
News and information from the after-school care center
Registration for the TUM Freising after-school care center for the 2026/27 school year is done via the City of Freising's online portal.

Important information about registration:
- Registration can only be done online via the City of Freising portal.
- Please note the deadlines in order to secure a place in after-school care for your child.
- The portal will be open to all families from January 1, 2026.

Regular booking times
For regular after-school care, a minimum booking of three days per week is required.
You can choose between the following two care models:
- 3–4 hours per day
- 4–5 hours per day
The core educational period is particularly important to us.
Therefore, pick-up time does not start until 4:00 p.m.
Exceptions—such as doctor's appointments or important family commitments—are of course possible. However, we ask that you notify us in advance so that we can plan the day accordingly.
Holiday care
For holiday care, we offer three booking categories tailored to your individual needs:

Who we are: Our after-school care group
consists of four dedicated teaching and support staff who are passionate about working with children. We look after 20 children in grades 1 to 4 and encourage their individual strengths and interests. Every child has their own strengths, interests, and potential for development, and it is precisely this diversity that makes our group so special.
We create spaces and relationships in which the children feel safe, accepted, and respected. In a trusting atmosphere, we support them in mastering their everyday lives, developing social skills, and making their own decisions.
In addition to helping with homework, we offer a variety of leisure and play activities that promote creativity, exercise, relaxation, and community spirit. It is important to us that the children enjoy learning, discovering, and living together, and that they experience the after-school care center as a place where they feel comfortable and can grow.
Where the adventure begins: Our house
The TUM Family Service Villa Kinderhort is idyllically located on Weihenstephaner Berg in Freising, directly on the TUM campus and close to the Vötting elementary school. Our facility is run by the Technical University of Munich, represented by the TUM Family Service.
The location offers ideal conditions for childcare: short and safe routes from school, a natural environment with gardens, meadows, and small paths to explore. Our spacious outdoor area with mature trees, a large meadow, a playhouse, and a construction trailer invites children to move around, explore, and experience nature with all their senses every day.
The after-school care center is open to children from Freising and the surrounding area. We are particularly happy to welcome children of TUM employees, who are given priority admission.
An important part of our work is our close cooperation with the Vötting Elementary School. Through regular exchanges between teachers and our team, we lovingly accompany transitions, support learning processes, and promote social skills.
When we are open
- After-school care hours during school term:
Monday–Thursday: 10:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Friday: 10:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. - After-school care hours during school holidays:
Monday–Friday: 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. - The after-school care center is closed 30 days per year, plus one planning day. All closing days are announced well in advance so that you can plan accordingly.
