TUM Language Center
The Language Center at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) offers a wide range of language courses and training for students, doctoral candidates, and TUM employees—German courses, English courses, and courses in other languages. Placement tests are available online for several languages.
Courses and services in German as a foreign language
The TUM Language Center offers various courses in German as a foreign language, starting at level A1. There are also subject- and career-oriented courses and workshops (e.g., on communication in the corporate world) available.
German language consultation is available online or in person (Munich). Writing and speaking consultatio is offered, e.g., to help students prepare for oral exams.

Courses in English and other languages
The TUM Language Center offers various English courses at levels B1 to C2.
You can seek language advice at the English Writing Center. It has locations in Munich, Garching, and Weihenstephan.
All other languages offered can be found on the overview page Learn Languages at TUM. These include French, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, and several other languages. These courses usually start at level A1.
Learning languages together
TUMtandem – Tandem learning: The Language Center matches people for tandem partnerships in German and another language (currently seven languages). The tandems learn and practice online or in person.
If you want to take it lightly, you can visit the TUMi Language Café, which usually takes place weekly – in Munich, in Garching or at StudiTUM on the Campus Weihenstephan.

The TUM Language Center offers additional services, including intercultural training and various events such as movie nights.
